Topic: Bleats - Stable – Tables (09/04/25)
The stable was a sacred place
The night that Christ was born.
The Father’s gift to all the world
Would come before the morn.

The animals within their stalls
Were witness to the story,
One to be told forevermore:
How Jesus came from glory.

The sound of cattle lowing and
The bleating of a lamb
Had added to the crying there,
The voice of “Great I Am.”

They heard the song the angels sang
Announcing Jesus’ birth,
Although they couldn’t understand
How much their words were worth.

They knew not what their eyes had seen.
From them the facts were hid.
They couldn’t comprehend the truth,
But Mother Mary did.

It’s sad that animals can’t know
The joy that God can bring,
It’s sadder yet when folks reject
Our future promised King.

How glad am I to understand
the story of the stable.
I’ll worship God with all my heart
As long as I am able.

This is so lovely. As you know, poetry isn't my favorite genre, but this spoke to my heart. You paint such a beautiful picture with your words. I like to think the animals did know, but that's me being romantic. You did such a nice job of using the topic prompts throughout the entire piece. And it's a powerful, clear message.
