As every woman expecting her first grandchild knows, the name she will be called is very important. While I was still considering my choice, my little granddaughter heard the word “Grandma,” and it sounded to her like “Mugaw,” Stephanie then made that her choice. When she called herself “Mugaw’s Buddy,” I was thrilled, and I thought, “Surely no other grandchild has ever been this smart!”
Some years later, when her little sister was born, Stephanie’s mother said, “Now that you can pronounce “Grandma,” you can teach your little sister to say it.”
She responded forlornly, “You mean I can’t call her ‘Mugaw’ anymore.” Thus, that name became permanent with her and her sister, plus later, two boy cousins who adopted it. In fact, it has continued through seven great grandchildren. I love the sound of “Mugaw” and the ones who call me that.
Before our Lord was born, an angel told Mary that His name would be Jesus. Isaiah had earlier prophesied that Jesus would be called “Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Each one of those is a promise. Jesus received a multitude of names that can be found in the Bible, with my favorite being “The Good Shepherd.” He leads me, and He guides me, and He finds me when I’m lost.

Apostle Paul said, “That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow.” I love Jesus and His name—the dearest of all names.
