Are really designed to present a disguise of respect
While we’re ignorant of their powers that smolder within
With plans to present an innocent’s loss as a win
Roaming to seek and led to devour
Whose unholy intentions roll on every hour
Don’t be hapless in trusting without a real clue
Unaware of evil plots that are aimed straight at you
With no protection afforded naïve un-believers
As they’re led by a force of wicked deceivers
Some fall for what “feels right” to do or to say
Not knowing the one who confuses and keeps truth at bay
Friendships, or even sweet matters of heart
Can leave masses of humans alone in the dark
Or business decisions on which to reflect and decide
Where vague misperceptions seem glad to reside
It’s easy to trust those planted masked faces
Who send babes-in-the-woods to the most dangerous places
With no Christian compass to give us aid and support
Evil always shows up to hurt and distort
By giving our lives to Jesus, our Savior
With assistance of prayer to mold our behavior
We are blessed to get wisdom as we learn to discern
That there’s help for all problems and deepest concerns
Listening to others full of iffy advice
Convinces scores who decide by rolling the dice
Which is known to lead innocent humans astray
Who simply are hoping the numbers fall the right way
Remember, seeking God’s will must always be first
Unchecked alliances can be dangerous, even deadly at worst
And having faith is the standard for doing the best
While we measure and weigh and apply the right test
In other words…
If the message you hear from a back-slapping deal
Seems over-the-top and possibly unreal
Consider how the guy who is calling you “buddy”
Is not really your pal (and is possibly nutty)
If a starry-eyed someone is calling you honey
Proceed with due caution and hide all your money
Instead of your heart, someone’s after your dough
And was never a friend but could be your foe!
If a big wooden statue resembling one empty horse
Arrives at your door and you don’t know the source
Gently push it to roll down a hill by a lake
Then hope it jumps in for your own goodness sake!

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
