For it often seems to ring
Of weakness
You see someone headed for a pit
And you let them fall in
Because you think it’s a sin
to tell them what to do
What kind of kindness is that?
Kindness is not weakness
At least when it is true
It’s when it’s fake
That’s when we make
A mistake
An example we need
We should follow Christ’s lead
in kindness
What kind of kindness is that?
The kind
That does not remind
The other person
Of their stumbles
Of their fumbles
That loves them as they are today
But too much to let them stay that way
That tells the truth in a gentle tone
So a person can change
So a person can grow
We don’t need to be harsh
We should not be mean
But should be seen
As showing the kindness of Christ
What kind of kindness is that?
God’s kind
For which we should strive
Until we arrive
In heaven
