There's a TV show called "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." But let me tell you about the far more marvelous Man of Galilee.
Jesus leaves me absolutely speechless at times. I think of two women who may have marvelled and been left speechless at the marvellous miracles of Jesus.
I wonder what it would have been like to be the widow of Nain whose son was raised from the dead by Jesus
PUTS ON HEADDRESS
My son is dead. My hope is gone. How will I ever be able to survive without my son taking care of me. First my husband and now my only son. Dead. A mother shouldn't have to bury her son! I have no future, no hope.
There's Jesus, I hear he heals the sick. If only Jesus had been here when my son fell sick. It's too late now. What's Jesus saying to me? "Don't cry." Very sweet. Very impossible.
But what's he doing, he is telling my son to sit up? (WOMAN GASPS FOR WORDS) I don't know what to say! Jesus has raised my son from the dead!
He's given me back my future, he's given me back my hope. For he's given me back my son.
All I can do is marvel
I never would have thought to ask
For Jesus to perform this miracle
Would have seemed too big a task.
But this marvelous man of Galilee
cared so much for me
That he performed this miracle
And now has set me free
WOMAN REMOVES HEADDRESS.
Ah the marvelous man of Galilee. Eighteen years. I cannot even comprehend what it would have been like to be bent over for eighteen years. I wonder what it would have been like to be the woman who had been bent over for 18 years then healed by Jesus
PUTS HEADDRESS BACK ON
Another day of being bent over. Nothing new about that. I was bent over yesterday, I'll still be bent over tomorrow/ Eighteen years of ef being bent over. Trapped. No future, no hope.
There's Jesus. I hear he does miracles. But I can't even ask. It's too much. Too much to hope for.
What's Jesus saying to me? "Woman, you are free from your disability." (Luke 13:12b ESV) And he touches me, and I am free! GASPS FOR WORDS I don't know what to say. What a marvel! What a miracle. He has given me back my future, my hope.
All I can do is marvel
I never would have thought to ask
For Jesus to perform this miracle
Would have seemed too big a task.
BUt this marvelous man of Galilee
cared so much for me
That He performed this miracle
And now has set me free
WOMAN REMOVES HEADDRESS.
Two women. Both without hope. Both without a future. Both with a situation so hopeless they didn't even think to ask for Jesus' help. But Jesus gave them back their hope and future.
Sometimes today it's hard to have hope, to see a future. But then I think of the marvelous Man of Galilee, this miraculous Messiah.
Time and again, He does miracles I've asked for.
Time and again He does miracles I wouldn't have dared to ask for.
He is my hope, He is my future.
All I can do is marvel
I never would have thought to ask
For Jesus to perform this miracle
Would have seemed too big a task.
BUt this marvelous man of Galilee
cared so much for me
That He performed this miracle
And now has set me free
