One lovely summer night.
Said he, “The stars are marvelous.
No diamond is as bright.”
Said she, “Just wait until the sun
Fills all the world with gold.
There’s not a thing more marvelous
Than sunrise, nor as bold.”
“Watch how the waves reflect the moon
And wash up on our feet
With perfect timing,” he declared.
“They never miss a beat.”
“And how about the sand,” said she,
“That stretches endlessly?
God promised Abraham a seed
As great as sands might be.”
Then as they went along their way,
He stole a kiss or two.
They shared their thoughts and wishes then
Like lovers often do.
“Well, what about our love?” said he.
“Is it not wondrous, too,
That God of all the universe
Chose me to be with you?”
“I think our love is grand,,” said she.
“In fact, it’s marvelous,
But it’s a greater marvel still
That God loves both of us.”
