I read the headlines
and want to weep
I cannot sleep
Where is the purity today?

This is what I heard God say
“Purity begins with you.”

To be pure
Will help ensure
my path is straight
My willpower won't abate
There is no debate!

Pure
is the cure
for slippery evil
That takes us further away
from that glorious day
where God will say
Well done!

Pure means
Not saying things that
grieve God's heart
Walking the path that
sets us apart

To be pure
will assure
God of our hearts
These are the parts
we are to play
Every day

When we are pure
Nothing will lure
us away
No we will stay!
On the right path He made

There is no shade
of evil allowed
We won't follow the crowd

To be pure
like Joseph rejecting Potiphar's wife
Avoiding the strife
Following the life
God had told him to live

And always to give
God glory

Is my heart pure when I write
Or is there a bite
to my words?

Here is what I know is true
Purity begins with me
Purity begins with you
