At every place they’d go.
“We have no space. Be on your way.”
God’s plan they did not know.
Exhausted and discouraged, they,
From weary way they’d wended.
Yet, there was space, the very place
That God, Himself, intended.
An innkeeper had open heart
To listen to God’s voice.
While all his rooms were occupied,
He still gave them a choice.
A stable with some animals
Was all he had to offer.
A covering of fresh hay laid
Would make the ground there softer.
From birth in such a humble place,
Announced by angels’ song,
A precious baby boy was born
Who never did a wrong.
‘Twas there the shepherds visited
To kneel in adoration.
They worshiped Him not knowing that
He’d bring to them salvation.
A humble life our Savior lived
Till He died for our sin.
The risen Lord's at your heart's door.
