Hello, I know you. Well, I don’t really know you, but I’ve seen you before, in my mirror. You think you’ve made too many mistakes. That God has given up on you. Or maybe you’re not the lost soul, it’s your friend or child. They’ve made so many wrong choices, you’ve afraid they’re lost forever. Don’t give up on yourself. Don’t give up on them. Let me tell you my story.
It all began the day when I lost a silver coin.
(LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM) Where is my coin? It has to be here SOMEWHERE. I know I have nine other coins but that’s not enough, I want all ten of my coins. I stare at my other nine coins and all I can think of is that sole coin, that missing coin. I can't find it anywhere. I’ve swept the entire house. Maybe it's under the table here. LOOKS UNDER THE TABLE Under the rug? MIMES PULLING UP A RUG
Perhaps the lamp will help. HOLDS IMAGINARY LAMP AS SHE PEERS AROUND THE STAGE LOOKING FOR IT) The light has revealed it! There it is, under my bed! I have to celebrate, but I can’t celebrate alone.
WALKS TO THE SIDE OF THE STAGE AND KNOCKS
Miriam, Jacob, you have to come and rejoice with me. You know that coin I've been endlessly searching for? I found it! The lost is found. (KNOCKS SOME MORE ON A DIFFERENT IMAGINARY DOOR) Joseph, Mary come and celebrate with me. And who is this with you? Jesus! He’s grown so tall. And his eyes so wise, I think it’s because he’s always soaking everything in.

I told my friends how the lost was found and they all rejoiced with me. And that was that, or so I thought.
But even though the coin was found, over the years, somehow I became lost. I made bad choices, so many bad choices. I lost far more than one coin, I lost all my money. To feed myself I had to sell the only thing I had left, me.
Years went by and I heard Jesus was now a travelling rabbi. I had to go hear him. I saw him surrounded by tax collectors and well, call us sinners. Lost souls. And then I heard Jesus tell a story about a woman who had ten silver coins and loses one and searches for it, and rejoices when it was found.
Wait a minute, that was MY story. Years ago, Jesus and his parents had celebrated with me. Was he telling MY story? Jesus just looked at me, right at me, and he winked! He remembered me. He said, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10 NIV)
Jesus remembered me. He surely knew about the wrong path I had taken, but His eyes weren’t full of judging but love.
“There is rejoicing in heaven over a sinner who repents. (REPEATS SLOWLY, THOUGHTFULLY) A sinner who repents.
God, I repent of all my wrong choices. Come find me. And then I realized, He already had. He was just waiting for me to want to be found.
The lost was found. This lost soul was found.
ADDRESSES AUDIENCE
Just as I rejoiced over that lost coin, there was rejoicing in heaven over me being found.
The lost can be found. No one is beyond finding, beyond saving. Jesus came to find and save the lost. He found me. He saved me. He longs to find and save us all..
