the trees to swing and sway
in a rhythmic dance
they have practiced to the cadence
of summer’s gentle breezes.
God is the One who has allowed
the trees to twist and turn
and creak and crack
when thunder cries aloud
and sends forth streaks of lightning.
God is the One who has allowed
the trees to offer bare limbs
for soft, shiny crystals of snow,
which grow heavier and heavier,
and more beautiful all the while.
God is the One who has allowed
the trees to sprout green leaves
In welcome to the springtime
With all its verdant beauty
till comes the fall when those same leaves
become transformed
into a riot of color.
God is the One who has allowed
The trees to clap their hands
as they join the rest of nature
in praise to their Creator.
More than allow, the Lord designed
The trees to be a demonstration of
His power and His glory.
