"Perhaps he has fallen and damaged his head."
We had valid reason for wondering why
The old man, each night, simply gazed at the sky.
His wife and his nephew had patiently tried
To stop his star gazing so he'd come inside.
But night after night the routine was the same...
He would watch all the stars as if playing a game.
He shared the reason with his lovely wife
But she laughed out loud at his strange view of life
For some reason the old man just wanted to count
So he chose to count stars with their large amount.
"There are too many stars to number each one...
The neighbors are watching at setting of sun.
Please, Dear, understand how embarrassed we are.
You must give this thing up... you are going too far.
The old man simply smiled 'cause he understood
That the thing he was doing was actually good.
It mattered not if his neighbors knew why
'Cause he understood why he gazed at the sky.
"It isn't the stars that I count every night
So why make such a fuss? Why cause all the strife?
I am simply counting before I am dead
The descendants God gave me." Abraham said.
