ADD TO MY FAVORITES
bask in the sunshine,
deeply inhale the fresh air,
talk to neighbors now and then,
and feel that satisfying feeling at the end.
That is,
until an illness
took it away from me.
I loved to help,
to lend a hand to others,
to give of myself when I could,
I loved when I could spend my days
ministering to others in so many ways.
That is,
until an illness
took it away from me.
I loved to write,
the ideas came
and flowed through my pen,
I enjoyed stringing words together,
and it felt like I could write forever.
That is,
until an illness
took it away from me.
So many things
I loved to do
were taken away,
and all that are left are the memories
of all the things I used to do with ease.
Grateful
I did what I loved
while I was able.
And I have learned
that things can quickly change.
I’m grateful I took the opportunity
to do the things I loved while I was able,
for I didn’t realize there would be a timetable.
Grateful
I did what I loved
during the time that I could.
And now my message is,
enjoy the things you love to do
and don’t take them for granted,
from my experience, it’s abundantly clear,
it’s important to take time for what you hold dear.
Embrace
what you love doing,
and cherish what a gift it is.
Author’s Note: Even though I still have brain fog from my illness and writing isn’t the same experience it used to be, I’m grateful that I can do it again. I appreciate this ability in a new way, not knowing if it will last.
