“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” The girl’s heart beat with each syllable of remembered Scripture.
As she stepped on an unseen pebble, a slight moan escaped her trembling lips. She reached down to massage her foot. A single light from an open window cast a beam onto something or someone in the distance.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
She moved closer into the shadows in order to get a glimpse of what might lie ahead. There, there is someone approaching from the other direction.
“I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling.”
Her heart spoke but her mind froze. “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Closer and closer, the figure glided towards the girl. Either she had hidden herself in a very dark shadow or the person didn’t see her, he continued past without as much as a look in her direction. In a slow quiet release, she exhaled her bated breath.
“Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you. “
