I search and search to find a getaway
from all the chatter in my mind,
the worries and the fears.
regrets I’ve had throughout the years.
I’d love it leave it all behind.
If only I could disappear,
if only for a time,
I think that it would help,
but I can’t just avoid myself.

When all I want
is to escape the noise
that’s churning in my head,
I know it’s time
to listen for God’s voice instead.
It’s in his presence,
his reassuring tone,
where he puts my mind at ease,
reminds me I can trust in him.
He helps me to release
what troubles me inside,
replaces it with peace.

I long to find a place to hide away
from all the noise that’s in my brain,
concerns with what’s ahead,
the strife and struggles that I dread.
And what if I cannot stay sane?
Such thoughts keep swirling in my head,
and only doubts remain.
I wish that I could flee,
but I can’t get away from me.
