With no way to get out,
And no one seems to hear my calls,
No matter how I shout.
I can’t remember when I came,
I’ve been here for so long.
The space is narrow where I’m held,
The bars before me, strong.
I’m hungry and nobody cares.
I hope that dinner’s soon.
I haven’t had a bite to eat
Since lunch was brought at noon.
It’s lonesome to be held in here.
Though I hear people talking,
And somewhere from not far away,
Come sounds of someone walking.
I don’t enjoy such solitude.
I’m more for company,
With lots of people all around
Who like to be with me.
I do not know what I have done
To get this punishment,
But if I find what law I broke,
I’ll certainly repent.
I’ve hopes to break out of this place
When my plans will take shape.
I’ll grow up fast--you wait and see.
This playpen, I’ll escape.
