I am my Beloved’s and He is mine.
It feels like we’ve been betrothed forever. I long for the wedding day.
But my Bridegroom’s “I will” betrothal vows bind me and sustain me
until I finally hear Him declare: “I do!”
From the day my Beloved knocked at my door and invited me to sup with Him,
He took responsibility for keeping the vows of our covenant with each other.
When my Beloved seems far away I remember His vows:
I will commit Myself to you in righteousness and justice,
in steadfast love and tender compassion.
I will be faithful to you and make you Mine.
I will write My law on your heart.
I will be your God and you shall be My people.
I will forgive your iniquity.
I will remember your sin no more.
I will commit Myself to you forever;
I go to prepare a place for you, and I will come again,
and receive you unto Myself;
that where I am, there you may be also.
My vows to my Beloved are based on His promises to me:
I will root myself deeply in Your love for me and grow in my love for You.
I will, with my Beloved’s help, love Your people as myself.
I will joyfully, with a heart full of thanksgiving,
receive Your forgiveness for my failure to keep my vows.
And I will forgive myself lest I live in shame and blame.
For You, my Beloved, mercifully vow to take my shame upon Yourself.
I wait eagerly . . . ever watching . . .
while the Spirit prepares me for that Day that only the Father knows.
