God looked down at men sinning below.
"I need to send someone to deal with these men,"
To which Jesus answered, "I'll go!"
In Mary's dark womb, which felt more like a tomb,
The baby kicked hard to be free.
He longed to stretch out to see what life's about,
"Please open my door," was his plea.
He kicked and he kneed so that he would be freed.
He pushed hard throughout the long night.
At last, he came out and his dad gave a shout,
While his mother wept, filled with delight.
The first breath he took, so says the Good Book,
Brought hope that Messiah was here.
The news of His birth caused rejoicing and mirth
To the shepherds and those far and near.
As a young boy, he stood, as twelve-year-olds should,
To be questioned by rabbis and men.
His responses were right; they knew he was bright,
And he proved it again and again.
When Lazarus died and his family all cried.
Some wandered around, full of doubt.
Jesus took a deep breath, and reversed the man's death,
And loudly called, "Lazarus, come out!"
At Galilee's shore, the crowds grew even more.
To a hillside, five thousand He led.
When suppertime came, they called Jesus' name.
With two fishes and bread, all were fed.
When He knew in His heart that He soon would depart,
Jesus called to James, Peter, and John
To join Him in prayer in the cool mountain air;
But they slept while their Master prayed on.
As Judas contrived, Roman soldiers arrived
To arrest Him and take him away.
Judas knew he'd betrayed while Jesus had prayed.
But the disciples were ordered to stay.
He was hung on the cross, and his men felt such loss
That this God/man they'd trusted had died.
They wandered around, barely making a sound.
They could not understand, though they tried,
Mary wept at his death and recalled his first breath
When the angels announced He'd been born.
She saw the crowds cry as they watched her Son die
While others showed hatred and scorn.
Later, inside the tomb, God dispelled all the gloom
By breathing new breath in His Son.
Jesus opened the door; death could hold Him no more.
"It is finished," he cried. "We have won!"

And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7
The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. (Job 33:4)
Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalms 150:6)
