The sun, rising in the morning,
A beautiful promise of
Another day in God’s good providence.
Hope is . . .
The eyes of a small child,
Gazing in wonder at the twinkling lights
On a Christmas tree.
Hope is . . .
The student at graduation,
With anticipation of a good job
And a fulfilling life.
Hope . . .
Hope is the couple, standing at the altar
To pledge vows of love
And forever faithfulness.
Hope is . . .
The mother, holding her newborn
To her breast, as she dreams
Of the wee one’s future.
Hope is . . .
The parents, waiting for their son or daughter
Away from home, to return
Safe and whole in body and spirit.
Hope is . . .
The farmer, planting seed in the ground
And praying for sunshine and rain,
Along with protection from storms.
Hope is the husband at the bedside
Of his grievously ill wife,
Pleading with God for a miracle.
Hope is . . .
The Christian, celebrating Jesus’ resurrection,
Secure in the knowledge of rising
To be with Him forever in heaven.
Hope is . . .
The moon, shining in the darkness of night,
A reminder that God, who watches over all,
Never slumbers or sleeps.
