And my progress is feeble and slow.
The mountain's forbidding and high,
And I can't reach the top though I try.
And I'm climbing, climbing again,
And I'm never reaching the end.
The paths that stretch out in my head
Are wishes and hopes that are dead,
And I'm never nearing the top,
For the wasteland of dreams never stop.
And I'm climbing, climbing again,
And I'm never reaching the end.
I've been trekking this mountain so long,
But my footsteps just seem to be wrong.
I'm tired and I'm lonely and sore.
I can't do it alone any more.
And I'm climbing, climbing again,
And I'm never reaching the end.
Then I hear some footsteps behind,
And a voice so gentle and kind.
There's Somebody at my side
Offering to be my Guide.
And I'm climbing, climbing again,
And I'm never reaching the end.
“I will show you the path and the way.
I will lead and guide you each day.
Give me your hopes and your fears,
Your regrets and your sins from the years.”
And I'm climbing, climbing again.
And my burdens are carried by Him.
He is taking me right to the top.
This journey, it will never stop.
And He's with me and leading me on,
Up the mountain and even beyond.
