I could not help but love him.
He smiled at me with tender eyes,
And I sensed he loved me, too.
He saw without my telling him
When I was having problems,
And he gave all his attention
To understand my needs.
I felt that he was proud of me
For all of my successes,
And he let me cry my sorrows
On his shoulders.
But most of all, he was ever my protector.
In any situation, I did not need to fear.
I trusted in his strength,
And I knew I was secure.
Such a wonderful man was my father!
There couldn’t have been a better . . .
But then one day, there came my way
The young man of my dreams.
He is so tall and handsome,
I cannot help but love him.
He smiles at me with tender eyes,
And I sense he loves me, too.
He sees without my telling him
When I am having problems,
And he gives all his attention
To understand my needs.
I feel that he is proud of me
For all of my successes,
And he lets me cry my sorrows
On his shoulders.
But most of all, he’s ever my protector.
In any situation, I do not need to fear.
I’m trusting in his strength
And I know I am secure.
