It’s true that I’m a dud.
Instructions to match “A” to “B”
Are simply clear as mud.
No builder could I be.
I hate when I study a map,
The trouble I have to decode it,
And also I sadly admit
I never can rightly refold it.
I’m not a navigator
To understand directions in
A complex recipe,
Then follow them precisely is
Impossible for me.
I won’t be a gourmet cook.
When trying to follow the pattern
In something that I’m sewing,
I somehow get things all mixed up.
It’s just beyond my knowing.
A seamstress I’ll not be.
But nouns and verbs and adjectives,
Now those I understand.
At analyzing sentences
I’m truly an old hand—
A long-time English teacher.
I’m thankful that the Gospel news
Is clear as clear can be.
God sent His Son to die for all,
And that included me—
A sinner saved by grace.
