A fisher flings his hook and bait.
Collects his prize, a fishy freight.
Not content with bulging staves,
Twice and thrice a hundredweight,
Casts once more, to net his fate.
Across the sky, an eagle skims,
Talons splayed, a deathly sword,
A luckless rabbit, his reward.
A morsel more, though gullet brims,
Weakens wings to rise skyward.
Enchained to earth, a captured lord.
A pony hitched, waits to draw
The cart, to the grist mill bound.
Wheaten bushels, a tow’ring mound.
Gleaming grain and golden straw,
The master’s cry to add a pound,
Waylays the pony, to the ground.
Silv’ry snow and winter’s breeze,
Wooed into a swift romance,
An ardent whirling, frosty dance.
Flirting flakes tease steadfast trees,
Drifting, gath’ring happenstance.
Soft down alights and fells a branch.
A vibrant life, laden days,
Toil and labour, duties, deeds.
Devotion to unending needs.
Coming, going, changing ways.
Ventures, quests, confounding speeds.
A wearied spirit, burdened, bleeds.
