Sarah felt it the minute she stepped off the plane; she just wasn’t quite sure what it was. After six years serving as a missionary in Africa, she had expected to drop to the ground and kiss the dirt when she finally made it home. But that was definitely not what she was feeling. What she was feeling more closely resembled fear then gratitude.
Her first stop after the long flight was the restroom. She rounded the corner, and looked up at what was obviously a man standing at the sink, looking at himself in the mirror.
“Oops, I’m sorry,” she said, as she turned around to look at the door. “I thought I was in the women’s restroom.”
“Oh, you are, sweetie,” he said, in a voice as feminine as her own. “It gets a little confusing nowadays, right?” He laughed as he brushed by her, leaving Sarah standing in shock.
Sarah cleared her throat and looked around. She was now alone in the restroom, so she quickly took care of business, and as she walked out the door, she spotted the sign. There was the typical silhouette of a woman, and then next to it was one of a half man and half woman.
“What in the world?” Sarah mumbled to herself, as she felt a chill run up her spine.
Noticing her confusion, an older women walking by nodded her head. “Crazy, isn’t it? Apparently we have more than sixty genders now. We’re probably going to need more bathrooms, right?”

Sarah hurried towards the luggage claims area, arriving in time to see two women, arm in arm, with “We’re on our honeymoon!” printed on their tee shirts. People were smiling and congratulating them, as if they were famous. She overheard two men nearby talking about the couple.
“They’re married? Is that legal?”
“It is now, according to the Supreme Court.”

“Well, good for them, I guess.” The men walked off, as if nothing was weird. Sarah felt like she was in the Twilight Zone. So much had changed while she was away. She turned suddenly, thinking she felt someone brush up against her, but there was no one there.
Sarah retrieved her luggage, and hurried to the airport waiting area, to meet her family. As she hugged her sister, she felt the anxiety and fear subside somewhat. Until they got home, and turned on the television.
There was a woman speaking to thousands of people. She spoke of her two children, and then she told a story about her first pregnancy. She had been in college, and she wasn’t ready to be a mother, so she had an abortion. She told the story with boldness, and the people cheered.
Sarah began to tremble as a wave of nausea came over her. She thought of the babies and their mothers she had helped in Africa. By this woman’s standards, none of the mothers were ready to parent. They had absolutely nothing when they became mothers, but they would sacrifice to their own death to keep their babies alive.
“How can a woman who has two children, who knows what it is to be a mother, be proud of the fact that she murdered her first child? How can she not realize what she did? And the people. They cheered. They cheered the fact that she disposed of her baby because it would be a little inconvenient. Don’t you see? That’s not a natural thing for a woman to do.” Sarah began to cry, and her sister came and sat beside her.
“I think you might be overreacting just a little, Sarah,” she said, as she patted her on the back.
“I’ve lived in Africa for the last six years. I’ve seen how a lion can destroy his prey.”
“What? What has that got to do with anything?”
Sarah wiped her tears with her palms, and looked at her sister. “We need to wake up, because he’s here. Can’t you feel him?”
