Transform and change us all,
And in our valleys draw on them,
God's closeness we recall.
We can't live on the peaks and highs,
For life is oft routine,
But drawing on the memories,
We face the unforeseen.
I'm sure that Peter gained the strength
To meet what lay ahead
In witnessing Christ's miracles,
With faith and never dread.
In Christ's transfiguration,
His glory he beheld,
It surely quenched his every doubt
And Satan's darts dispelled.
Healing the sick, raising the dead,
The wonder of it all,
The proof of God's omnipotence
O'er things both big and small.
And witnessing five thousand fed,
He knew God would provide,
And when Christ sent them out to serve,
I'm sure on that relied.
And Satan likes to whisper thoughts
Of doubts, of fear, of dread,
We counter them by memories,
Quoting God's Word instead.
Yes, mountaintop experiences
Transform and change us all,
And in our valleys draw on them,
God's closeness we recall.
