"Wow. They're lovely Melanie. Each one is different, and yet..."
"Yep. The flower people look the same, but are sooooooo different."
"I love the outfits you've created for them too!"
"Yep" Melanie hustled to the other side of the room and returned quickly, with another picture created only moments ago. "This is my favorite." She wiggled in place as she smiled. Her sparkling eyes watching my face.
"Oh my goodness! Sweetheart, they're beautiful...are they twins?"
"Yep. They are, and they do everything together too. Shopping, eating, and sleeping. They're like...bookends!" Her smile ignited a fire in my heart.
"Honey, they kind of look like you."
She nodded her head rapidly. "And, see the big bright star in the corner?"
"Yes, I do."
"That's Jesus. In Bible class they said He's the bright morning star."
Swallowing hard I touched her hand gently, "Yes, He is. This is fantastic work Melanie."
"I want to show my work to everyone. I will be famous one day."

Note: A true story that happened several years ago.
Melanie succumbed to Leukemia after a brave and valiant fight. We wanted to make Melanie's wish come true. So with permission from the family, we used her "Flower people" to make a calendar in her name, and each picture was accompanied by a poetic saying. I was so blessed and fortunate to be a part of this amazing project, having volunteered my poems for Melanie's pictures. I was honored and humbled when the family chose my words to accompany her precious pictures. The proceeds from the sale of the calendar went to childhood cancer in Melanie's name. And, best of all...she got her wish; she was famous for the entire year, and beyond.
Melanie was a brave little darling girl, and is in a place where she is happy and free from pain. No doubt she was welcomed home where she was already famous to the most important one of all, "the Morning Star..."
