Stage bare
Two angels, facing the audience, dialogue as they peek through the curtain of time.
**************************************************
“Like deer in headlights.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Their faces. See. Eye brows trying to reach the hairline, eyes wide and staring, mouths hanging open, paralyzed in place. Like deer in headlights.”
“I know what a deer is but what are headlights?”
“Oh, sorry. I forgot you haven’t slipped into that Time Zone yet.”
“What Time Zone are headlights in?”
“Around the same time as automobiles. You know what an automobile is, don’t you?”
“Uh…no.”
“Come on. I’ll take you to the twentieth century.”

Angels exit briefly then return

“Okay, now do you understand when I say like deer in headlights?”
“Kinda.”
“Watch this. See, Jesus is picking up dirt.”
“Yeah.”
“Now He’s spitting in it.”
“Okay. But I only see bewilderment.”
“Wait for it… now he’s putting the mud on the blind man’s eyes.”
“Yeah…still bewilderment with a dash of bemusement thrown in.”
“Very funny. Ah, see the blind man is washing off the mud and…voila!”
“Oh! I see it! I finally see it! Everyone around him is shocked, amazed, dumb struck!
“Exactly. They’re astonished”
“Like deer in headlights.”
