In the depths of each soul
Lives a voice, we are told,
That is still, and quiet, and small
Ever ready to lead
If only we’d heed
Waits in vain to answer our call
Since this simple device
That comes free…with a price
Will keep silent in face of pretention
Its power to speak
To the answers we seek
Will not fight us to get our attention
When the treasure inside
Seems bound to just hide
Never giving a nod or a clue
How then do we learn
To hear and discern
If a thing is the thing we should do?
For a moment reflect
How gross disrespect
Can hinder an answer to prayer
Distraction is used
To keep us confused
Ever dishing out clatter and blare
Satan hopes we won’t see
The nth of degree
Interruption can fool us with noise
It’s sold as a right
To disturb day and night
So our beings will miss God’s pure joys
Assault comes disguised
To our ears and our eyes
Barely veiled to cover its violence
The best of His treasure
Addressing our measure
Can only be found in sweet silence
Turn off the loud din
So the quiet voice within
Spirit-led from on high can be heard
First, ignore clamor’s rush
Then listen, but hush...
Discernment speaks softly, and always true to His WORD!
