Who lived in days of old.
No other knight was brave as he,
Nor was there one so bold.
He swaggered as he strode about,
His jeweled sword agleam.
Renaldo never suffered from
A lack of self esteem.
This knight, he wooed a maiden fair;
Rosetta was her name.
Her beauty lured a host of men
Like moths are drawn to flame.
He vanquished all her other swains
With deeds of chivalry,
Except for poet, Percival,
Her beau in rivalry.
Young Percival wrote odes to her,
Describing all her charms.
He sought her favors faithfully
With poems in place of arms.
A craftsman of the written word
Was Percival the poet.
The lovely verses that he wrote
Would eloquently show it.
Rosetta loved Renaldo’s strength
She saw when he would fight,
But also rhymes by Percival
She viewed with great delight.
Rosetta chose supremacy
Of pen o’er sword instead.
Renaldo rued the choice she made
When Percival she wed.

Timeless in its telling, but seemingly too difficult for most to understand. Loved it!
