Topic: DIARY (05/16/19)
With great excitement and expectations
I entered the crowded new stadium
Standing behind my wife, who’s wheelchair-bound
surrounded by praise songs
from the massive throng

The dim orangey sky partially hidden
by a dome-shaped ceiling
like a brightly-lit circus tent
but streams of cool air from behind
warding off the tropical heat

Listening to the melodic voice
of a charming lady soloist
audience responded swaying bodies
and waving hands
with flashing coloured tokens all around

Soon from the platform it announced
the speaker from England
Without looking at him
he sounded like a Londoner
though he looked just like one of us

So the audience
must give him the courtesy and attention
otherwise it’s a waste of time
for those who came from various places
for him from a distant land

Many people walking down
at the end of the talk
to make decision for Christ
to receive the promised Free Gift
But I was pleasantly surprised

Neither moving not terrific like Billy Graham’s
yet from the vantage point
I saw people laying hands
on others while praying and counselling
Who am I to judge the work of God

Not wanting to be a wet blanket
I kept my thoughts
my scepticism
to myself
while I penned them down

He knows and understands
my thoughts attitudes
and verdict for the night
What immense comfort I realise
He reads me like a book, a diary too.

I don’t need to resurrect the past
or pay attention to things of yesterdays
Behold He’s promised to do something new
making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the desert

Interesting story. Some of your descriptions invoked the feeling of a circus-like activity instead of a gospel sharing crusade. I'm not sure who you were referring to when the Londener "looked like one of us." Who is are you? I do understand that the MC is a seeker. Loved your imaging!

I like the flow of the poem. I can't write free-style so appreciate greatly those who can. I too am not for sure who this person is. I know he's not eloquent like Billy Graham but the Holy Spirit still used him in a powerful way.

Some clarifications

1This is a real event which took place in an indoor stadium of a Far East city
2 The crowd comprised mainly Asians.

3 The speaker’ name and accent sounded English but he looked like an Asian.

4 The MC searched his heart, lest being judgmental.
