Several years ago, my family was struggling. My husband is a full time pastor and there have been times when money was tight. The Lord has always taken care of us and provided for us, but there is one particular time that stands out in my memory.

It was one of those weeks when we were waiting for the paycheck to post to our account so that we could buy groceries and we were down to almost nothing in the pantry. It was dinner time and I had no idea what I could put together to make a meal. There was enough bread to make a couple of sandwiches and some cheese. I looked in the freezer and there was an opened bag of tater tots. I thought I could make some grilled cheese sandwiches and the tater tots. If there was anything left over after the kids ate, my husband and I would eat.

I had heated the stove up and grabbed the bag of tater tots. The bag fit in my palm and I could wrap my fingers around the top of the bag. I was afraid that there wouldn’t be enough to fill three kids’ bellies. All I could do was pray that there would be enough. I opened the bag, held it over my 9X13 pan, and prayed one more time. I started pouring out tater tots and couldn’t believe that the little bag that I had held in my hand filled that whole pan.

My husband came into the kitchen and found me crying over the pan of tater tots. He said, “I’m sorry, babe. Things will get better. The Lord has never let us down.” All I could say was, “I know”.

It was a little while before I could tell him that my tears were of amazement and thankfulness. I can tell you that tater tots never tasted so good and that I have never (and will never) forget what the Lord showed me that night. No matter what we’re going through, He is there and He will always supply our needs.

I could tell you many stories of how the Lord has supplied our needs through the years. He never ceases to amaze me. When I think that He can’t do anything more, He always does. The Bible tells us in 2nd Corinthians that His ‘grace is sufficient’. Sometimes it just takes a little something (like a bag of tater tots) to increase our faith.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:19
