If you haven’t seen Ireland
You haven’t seen green,
For the green fields of Ireland
Have an emerald sheen
That’s more gorgeous by far
Than the colours I’ve seen
In all the fine places
Where I’ve ever been.

I’ve travelled through Europe
Climbed its mountains so grand,
Trod its deep verdant valleys,
All its splendours I’ve scanned
But I never found there
Though it be a fair land
Any hue that surpasses
The green of Ireland.

I’ve travelled down under
Where the eucalypts grow,
Blue haze is a feature
Wherever you go;
The bush and the desert
Have a charm of their own
But not as alluring
As the green fields of home.

I know that New Zealand
Is a luscious land too,
Well known through the world
For its splendid green hue;
If I mention more lands
It would take me all day
And my mind can’t be changed—
I see things my own way.

Should you put all the greens
Of the world in one spot
Together might equal
What Ireland has got.
I love all the nations
And their beautiful scenes
But I favour by far
Ireland’s emerald green.
