I know the odds are stacked against me.

I've heard more than one person say those words. I hear the whispers and see the looks from those gathered here. They think I don't have enough to make it worth trying.

I can only pray they're wrong.

Many would question me for taking this chance. After all, no one knows the cards I've been dealt - except me. I haven't ever played on this level before, and some might think me presumptuous to try.

So they're looking at me. Some are urging me, with their eyes and their smiles, to go all in. Some are skeptical. I can see by their faces they think I’ll walk away. Others are silently mocking me just for being here.

I get it. It's a huge risk - and I know it. But I think it’s worth it.

The stakes are high. Everyone thinks they know how much I'll have to contribute to stay in this game. I've never made this steep a wager before - and I don't have to tell you, I'm scared.

But my mind is made up. I'm sure of what I'm holding, and I believe I'll beat the odds. As vain as this may sound, I believe God will help me win.

So, I clear my throat, open my mouth, and say the words needed to signal my participation in this venture.

I turn to face the preacher, and confidently say, "I do."
