For all of my friends to know,
I am a writer by profession,
And a slob, it’s true, there you go.
I take the path of least resistance,
I stay in my PJs all day,
In spite of others strong insistence,
I do things later, my way.
If things can be put off till tomorrow,
They will sit there until I’m ready,
Sometimes my way brings me sorrow,
Though I get things done, slow and steady.
If I could lie in bed and just sleep,
Twenty hours, for sure,
There I’d be without a peep,
Is there a laziness cure?
The remaining four hours I’d write,
Crossed-legged on my bed,
In the middle of the night,
Masterpieces to be read.
Should friends suddenly stop by my house,
They’ll see dishes in the sink,
As well as my friend, Marty the mouse,
Who darts by, as quick as a blink.
I tried to be like that Suzy Homemaker,
To cook and dust and clean,
I was not born to be a baker,
Does anyone know what I mean?
It bothers me that I am this lazy,
This is not what I wanted to be,
So I asked the Lord, “Why am I so hazy?”
And He said, “You are perfect to me.”
