Two planets consumed with a race
To travel past stars,
One planet past Mars;
Each claimed their ship won first place.
The king of Zadar held a feast
As the latest news was released. . .
“Our mission succeeded,
Our plans unimpeded,
First to land on the Earth flying east!”
The king of Imar feasted too,
The winner from his point of view. . .
He flew his craft west
Because his way was best,
Landing next to a scared kangaroo.
So Zadar constructed Zone Three
To hover above Tennessee;
They’d conquer the land
Til the creatures disband,
And their king ruled each galaxy.
But Imar built Station O Four,
Sent soldiers aground to explore;
Their king would install
A laser locked wall,
And broadcast: “We’ve won the cold war!”
But alien news travels fast. . .
Both kings were completely aghast;
Since they first disagreed,
Neither side would concede
That their cosmic-rule was surpassed.
Zadar ordered ionic beams,
While Imar shot fireball streams;
Earthlings got a show,
Fireworks from below,
But all sparks are not what they seem.
The sparks drew combat attention
And created a moment of tension. . .
Zadar was surprised
This planet, pint-sized
Fought back with galactic inventions.
Zadar and Imar soon agreed
This planet was just poppy seed,
Not worth a crusade
To fight an air raid;
So their ships raced home lightning speed.

A few lines didn't seem to fist as well rhythmically, but that could very well just be me.
Nice job on this.
