How I got there is another story, but my rescuer was no stranger to me. I personally met and got acquainted with Him when I was still very young, around seven I believe.
I have never seen Him … but I can feel and sometime hear Him, especially so when He was there in the darkness with me. He continued to encourage me—even though I was so angry with Him I wanted nothing more to do with Him. He had failed me … or so I thought. I blamed Him for not stopping the ones who had jerked me from my happy life of serving Him, and abandoned me to the inescapable coldness of what I can only describe as a deep dark pit of despair, which I had shockingly found myself trapped in for months.
Thankfully, even though I had turned my back on Him, He never gave up on me. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it was a very real situation to me, for His faithfulness is why I’m able to be with you today. It’s also why I want you to meet Him. Since that dark time, I’ve learned He can do the same, and more, for you or anyone who accepts and believes He can save them too, no matter how hopeless their situation seems.
He’s proven himself to be a friend like no other. Even though we can’t see Him with our physical eyes, we know He’s there because of His handiwork in our personal lives (like he’s done for me) and all around us. When we gaze up at the universe with its uncountable stars, planets and galaxies, through the most powerful telescopes man has managed to create, we get just a glimpse of His magnitude through what He’s created. And when we gaze into the most powerful microscope known, at the most miniscule specks of life or matter known to man, we again get just a glimpse of His wonderous greatness, which leaves us in awe.
He's so unique and powerful that frustratingly, all words seem to fall short when trying to describe Him.
For He is God.
We don’t know where He came from, we only know He is.
Thankfully, we are able to know him by His character, and how He revealed Himself to mankind through Jesus too. It’s mind-boggling to think how this entity, who is so far above us He’s able to create all that we see, willingly limited Himself to a lowly human form so we could get to know Him better and trust Him more.
Mankind knew Him then as Jesus—and know Him now as Savior, Redeemer, Friend, and so much more. He made it possible for individuals like you and me, to personally know and touch God in a tangible way. He’s an amazing friend, who loves us all so much, He willingly bore incomprehensible suffering to make it possible for us to escape it and spend eternity with Him, if we make the commitment to do so.
He is the ALMIGHTY … who’s also known as the Great I AM … for He’s all-powerful, and everything and anything good that we need. He is Spirit. He is substance. He is Light. He is life … and so much more!
Amazingly, He’s also my Savior, my rescuer, and my friend.
I am in awe, for the Almighty … the Creator of all … can love us that much. It is my hope He is (or becomes) your friend too, for He’s trustworthy and caring like no other.
