“You are showing all of your legs, my love!!
What are you doing? It's indecent and I think you should take it off!” said her aunt.
“But it's the latest trend, Aunty. All my friends dress like I do.”
Beth left her Aunty G’s house and strolled down the street.
She was quite comfortable with herself.
‘All my girlfriends wear mini skirts..so I’m okay with it.
Even movie stars and fashion models wear them.
Aunty G is behind the times’, were her prominent thoughts.
However, occasionally, during that night and many times afterwards, Aunty G’s words resonated in her mind; especially when she was in her thirties and saw women in revealing dresses that showed a lot of skin.
‘I suppose I’m now a prude’ was her conclusion when the tables turned.
Years later, she had a daughter named Tara. Dressing her baby girl was easy until she became a teenager and started making her own choices. She was dressing in short shorts and tight revealing leggings.
“They are the trend, mom. Increases my self-esteem and this way I fit in!” Tara stated.
“ It's what young women wear, Mom. Please, stop criticizing me!” responded Tara when she brought up the subject. Beth understood her daughter’s comments and thought patterns, but she knew deep down that there was another way.
So, years later, Beth could understand Aunty G’s comments.
As an older woman, in her opinion, yes, it was indecent to show so much of oneself.
A relevant Biblical verse had made an impact on her thinking too: “Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works” {1Timothy 2:9-10}.
Fashion trends persist, change, and influence us all.
As a middle-aged woman, Beth worked as a college lecturer and taught Sunday school. Of course, she chose to dress modestly and would occasionally include informal chats on modesty to the Sunday school class.
Another recent trend, not at all related to fashion, sparked her interest.
It was stirred up by a report entitled ‘7 Encouraging Trends of Global Christianity in 2022’. It was related to the growth of Christianity around the world.
The report stated that “Not only is religion growing overall, but Christianity specifically is growing. With a 1.17% growth rate, almost 2.56 billion people will identify as Christian by the middle of 2022. By 2050, that number is expected to top 3.33 billion.” {https://research.lifeway.com/2022/01/31/7-encouraging-trends-of-global-christianity-in-2022/}.
Another website named ‘//thewitness.org’ stated that ‘Christianity is growing the fastest in Africa, Africa and Asia and declining in European countries. Another encouraging trend is that the number of Christians in China has been growing rapidly in recent years, although the government imposes severe restrictions on religious freedom’
[https://thewitness.org/where-is-christianity-growing-the-most/]
Beth was encouraged by this. On this positive note, ‘in 1900, 54.3% of the world population was ‘unevangelized’. That has now fallen to 28 %’. So Christianity is being taught and the number of believers are growing. She rejoiced about this increasingly hope-filled trend.
Sadly though, in her opinion, women’s fashions have not become more modest. The trend is that many, many women still wear immodest revealing clothes.

Sentence about being a prude would probably be more effective at the end of paragraph.
When I read "thought patterns", I went "Huh?" I understand now you were talking about thoughts and ways of reasoning.
I would like to have read more about the steps that happened to change her mind.
"Another recent" trend does not go along with the train of thought for the rest of the story. It's facts rather than fiction (I suppose the beginning is fiction.)
Keep writing.
