Topic: SOUL / SOLE (03/02/23)
This evening I was sitting on my couch and rubbing the sole of my foot and trying to figure out why it hurt so much. Then it dawned on me that I stepped on a stone earlier in the day. I hadn’t given it any attention because I was in a section of town where my eyes were focused on all the souls that surrounded me.

It is odd how you can just shut everything else out around you when you are concentrating on something, especially when God is directing you. This area of town had both posh and poverty. It really spoke to my heart. It concerned me how people who had means could just walk by and not lift a hand. Then you see others who are lowly and yet will lend a helping hand. It can really boggle the mind.

I was reminded of the Good Samaritan. “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. …the priest passed him by. …the Levite passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.” Luke 10:30-33 NIV

The Samaritan showed true love and compassion toward someone he didn’t know. This is an example of how we are all supposed to act towards one another.

Why is it so easy to throw forth hurtful words and turn your head when a wrong is being done? Try putting yourself in their place and then just maybe your attitude and actions would change.

I can only pray that eyes will be opened and love will grow stronger in the hearts of all men and women everywhere. May souls be set ablaze!

Thank you for your entry. You have written well about the word soul, but perhaps could have explored the second homonym sole, more, and tied the two words together in some way. Keep writing, we can all improve through practice.

This is a lovely devotion. I liked how you started with an experience so many can relate to. If you haven't considered submitting devotions to FW, I'd urge you to do so. You've a knack for it.
