TRAIL! What was I talking about? I meant TRIAL. Pesky flying fingers. When typing too fast, my fingers sometimes trip, just like when my mind goes faster than my mouth and my tongue trips.
“I have been going through such a trail lately.” I couldn’t get that phrase out of my mind.
Was God trying to tell me something?
The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness on a trip that should have taken 11 days. Mark Batterson says, "It took one day to get Israel out of Egypt. It took 40 years to get Egypt out of Israel." God quickly dislodged the Israelites from Egypt. It would take much longer to dislodge the slave mentality, idolatrous habits, and ungrateful attitudes from the Israelites. And the trail they took to the promised land no doubt seemed a lot like a trial to them.
Is this trial I’m going through a trail? A trail that is bringing me closer to my ultimate Guide?
Truth through typos. The idea seized my brain. What other truth laid buried in typos? Like a treasure hunter never content with just one jewel, I went searching for more hidden treasure.
The cynic says, “God is nowhere.” Christians know “God is now here.” When my crisis-filled life feels like my God is “nowhere,” I know it’s because my life has become too crowded. It needs a space, a space for God.
What other truths are in typos? My iPhone has a tiny keyboard and so many times I lament when I realize I accidentally typed “Gid” instead of “God.” Gid makes no sense.
When God makes no sense, perhaps it’s because “I” am in the middle. I need to take myself out of the problem solving and let God be God.
My typo tracking trail leads me to compose a poem.
My trial is a trail
That leads me to You
God is nowhere?
No, He's now here in full view
When God makes no sense
With only troubles in store
I step out of the middle
Letting God be God once more.
