It was a gift from Mom when I was ten.
My first input happened when I was twelve.
"My daddy left today," I wrote. My tears did not show on the page. Papa had gone off to war and I was weeping into my red friend. Mama was weeping too; I could hear her.
Daily I wrote lines of joy and of events that shook my soul. Keeping a diary may be called journaling and it is a Godsend to many.
‘Billy Graham is in town" was a ‘smiling' one and the day I attended, I gave my life to Christ.
I wrote describing the lovely songs sung by the thousands who attended. I so loved George Beverley's solo and wrote it all down because it moved my heart. "How Great Thou Art!"
In middle school, I had such earth-moving news to record! " I got an A in Math. Wow!" Mom was pleased and so was my teacher. "Fourteen and moving to high school!" was a good one. Sadly I had to add "Johnny has left town." He was my heartthrob. His family left for Florida that June.
At fifteen I wrote "Daddy's home!" He had done his bit for America. Such good news! Now we had a happy home and a lot of joy. About nine months later I had a baby brother. I wrote "Jake is here. He is so cute." What a happy day. He enriched our family.
The next three years were tough ones.
"Study. Study. Study" was my frequent additions.
It paid off though. Here are two new ones;
"Johnny is back!" and "I am off to college!"
My heart was on fire with joy as I walked in a cap and gown.
I did a mission trip with our local church and my daily writings contain accounts about the interesting people I met. I thank God that I kept those records. As I grow in my faith in Christ, "I love the Lord!" is always in my heart and dairy.
We are all thankful for the well-read diary of Anne Frank's that she wrote with her dad. In life, there are struggles so we must choose to focus on the good since there is so much to thank God for.
