Tick Tock Tick Tock
Precious increment of time,
Fleeting, so easily lost,
Never to be regained.
Sixty, Sixty, Twenty Four, Seven, Four, Twelve.
Where have your gone?
Prayer, faith, praise.
Christ's birthday, Christmas trees, Gifts,
Beaches, BBQ's and swimming.
Chiming clocks, fireworks, resolutions.
Writing dates in Calendars,
Holidays, Tennis & Cricket.
Fans, Air conditioners, sprinklers,
School starts, Hot Northerlies.
Warm Memories of Summer.
Prayer, faith, praise.
Brisk nights, new flush of flowers,
Easter, Christ's sacrifice and resurrection.
Showers, footy starts.
Falling leaves of red and gold,
A blanket for the coming chill.
Planting winter vegies.
No more Daylight Saving.
Cool thoughts of Autumn
Prayer, faith, praise.
Frosty nights and heaters,
Hats, scarves, gloves,
Jumpers and vests.
Electric blankets and soup.
Casseroles and hot chocolate.
Rain, snow, skiing and cold winds.
Shivering recollections of Winter.
Prayer, faith, praise.
Buds, baby birds, blooming bulbs,
Bright colourful gardens.
Warming bright sun.
Weeding, spring cleaning,
Fitness and weight loss.
Daylight saving begins.
Preparing puddings and planning family visits.
Buying Christmas gifts and calendars.
Anticipation and optimism of Spring.
Sixty, sixty, twenty-four, seven, four, twelve.
Where have you gone?
A year. What have I accomplished?
How have I changed?
Am I more like Jesus? Have I listened to His voice
and obeyed fully?
Challenging questions bring self-examination.
All our family is all a year older. I am too.
Dear friends and relatives have died.
Broken relationships are still not healed.
Sad gaps remain. I leave them in His loving hands.
He has things for me to do.
Prayer, faith, praise.
'Keep on working with fear and trembling
to complete your salvation,
because God is always at work in you
to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.'**
