I recognize that knock, shrug and move on.

Knock, knock, knock…

It beckons. Go away, I say.

Knock, knoCK, KNocK…

Louder. I can ignore it.

KNock, KNock, KNock, KNock..

Past annoying to frustrating. I resist.

knoCK, knoCK, knoCK, knoCK, knoCK, knoCK…

Its weight heavy on my mind.

KNock, KNock, KNock, KNock, KNock, KNock…

Will it ever stop? Not today.

knock, KNOCK, knock, KNOCK, knock, KNOCK, knock...

Deep breathing helps the retreat.

Knock, Knock, Knock, Knock, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, ...

NO! I won’t.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, knock, knock, knock, knock…

Its oppression constricts my heart.

KNOCK, knock, KNOCK, knock, KNOCK, knock, KNOCK, knock…

Cracking the door may alleviate the burden.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!!!!

Desire and reasoning clash.

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock

The scale tips from worthless to worthwhile

It’s here: amusing me, fascinating me, exhilarating me, indulging
me, captivating me, impressing me, enthralling me, tantalizing me, intoxicating me, entertaining me, mesmerizing me, unsettling me, enraging me, frightening me, perturbing me, confusing me, haunting me, disheartening me, alienating me.

Satiating me… temporarily.

Why do I succumb?

Relief and grief clash.

Is temptation the burden or revealer?

Jesus did not yield to temptation, revealing HE is without sin.

For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15-16

We bend, yield and succumb to temptation, revealing our sinful nature.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; when it is finished, bringith forth death. James 1:13-15 KJV

Thanks be to God for Christ Jesus, our helper.

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted. Hebrews 2:18 KJV

I recognize that knock.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
