I can’t believe I’m here. I wasn’t supposed to be, and yet, here I am. My place of abode is decent enough, I suppose, but this isn’t what I had envisioned for myself. No, I had a wondrously perfect image of a great and glorious dwelling, complete with grand furnishings of gold, silver, and precious stones. I would have had servants all around me, to meet my every need and desire. It was a wonderful idea, to be sure. I haven’t given up though. No, I will think of something. I always do.

If I had made this place, I wouldn’t have used so much green. This disgusting color is all around me; on the ground below me, and in the branches above me. It’s sickening. I think I would have used a variety of darker colors, like a midnight blue, fiery red, and a deep, deep purple. Those colors would really make those brighter colors stand out. Yes, I could have done much better. Oh well. Again, I’m not giving up. I’m not planning on ever giving up.

Those other ‘three’ think they know everything. They have always been a thorn in my side. Every time I turn around, there they are. It’s so infuriating! I can’t seem to go anywhere without their knowing what I’m up to, looking over my shoulder all the time. What I wouldn’t give for a moment’s peace. Yes, I do love my time when I can be alone. I believe I am meant to be alone. If I must have another to talk to, I simply gaze at my beautiful reflection in the still waters that lay at the bottom of the stream. I really am something to behold. Beautiful.

I especially enjoy when the light comes over the horizon, and the mist rises from the ground. This is when I’m able to think and plan, and well, scheme. Once, I was able to make one of those four legged creatures growl at another beast nearby. I kept poking, and poking, and poking, until finally it turned around and a rumbling noise I had never heard before rose from his throat, displaying perfectly white and magnificently sharp teeth. It only lasted a moment, but it gave me hope. A hope for my destiny to be realized.

One day while I was near the rocks….Wait! What is this? A new creature, standing upright on two legs. What an odd looking thing, and yet, very interesting. I must go closer to get a better view. Yes, up in that tree looks like a good place.

Yes, this is much better. My goodness, it is speaking words as I do, and I understand! This is very interesting indeed…Time for a little chat.

“Hello, there. I have never seen you before. What is your name? What are you doing here?”

“I am Eve. I am looking for something to eat, while I wait for my husband.”

“There is some lovely fruit here. So delicious and sweet. Go ahead, have some.”

“No, I mustn’t. God told me that I could eat from every tree in the garden, except this one.”

“Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:2-4 NKJV)

“I just don’t know. I want to obey God. He is my Creator, and He has been so good and kind.”

“Go on….Look at it. It’s okay, trust me. Look at it. It is so delicioussssssssssss.”
