When the trumpet sounds
and the clouds roll back,
Will I be ready?
Have I done all I can do?
Have I prepared in every way?
Have you seen Him in me?
I kneel before His cross,
Reporting for service.
Can I withstand what is to come?
As He removed my shackles,
I actually looked at Him and said,
“I am yours, I will follow.”
But now I am trembling inside,
In fear that I may disappoint Him.
Maybe I’m not ready.
Have I really girded myself
with the complete truth?
Have I laid it all down?
My breastplate of righteousness
Seems to have rusted.
But it still manages to guard my heart.
My shoes of peace fit well,
Yet I can feel a small stone.
I’ll need to make that right.
I carry proudly, however,
My shield of faith.
It is my life-line.
A helmet of salvation,
Firmly placed upon my head,
Helps me find courage.
And as I go in to the battle,
I will carry my Sword!
Blessed is he, or she,
Who comes in the name of the Lord!
To arms! To arms!
Stand fast, and remain strong.
A war is waging against us!
I must be ready.
