Spring.

I see them everywhere: Full time workers, part time workers—even unemployed workers who are hoping, praying and wishing they could get any-kind-of-time work. Then there are those who are enjoying their retirement time, traveling the world, or simply treasuring time spent with their families.

Others are elderly who are a shell of who they once were, blankly staring at their unknown future. There are people who cannot work because they are disabled, just biding their time. Then there are children who are still in school for whom time passes slowly, anxiously awaiting summertime.

Romance abounds and so much time is spent by the daydreamer as he or she focuses on their new-found love. American Baseball season begins and each player on each team dreams of winning The World Series.

Churches are packed full of souls as they remember the suffering and death of Christ on the cross and His burial; and then they celebrate His Resurrection. Then, these same dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions of precious souls scurry around, living their lives the best they know how.

Some are just putting in their time.

Some are passing the time or spending their time.

Others are making the best of their time. While some are even wasting their time.

Such is spring time.

Summer.

It’s vacation time! I see them load up their cars, trucks, SUVs, campers, RVs towing boats or race cars heading off for some time away from it all. It’s a time of camps or all kinds. Church camp, boot camp, youth camp, Boy Scout Camp—you-name-it.

Churches attendance wanes while the faithful remnant remains to maintain the worship and praise, due His Worthy Name, Jesus. Other precious souls choose to work, not knowing of church and any such things. Still others work at maintaining the fields, so the tender crops grow up enough for harvest.

Most children are out of school for the summer, enjoying every minute of every day—hoping and praying that the rain, rain goes away.

It’s a time to enjoy the wonderful weather while they have it, and each other.

It can also be a time of violent storms and havoc.

Such is summer time.

Fall.

It’s back to school time, and for those blessed with jobs, back to work time. The weather begins its long transition from hot to cold. The days get shorter and the nights are get longer as billions of beautiful leaves fall from the trees. I see the precious souls mowing their lawns and raking leaves as the great memories of summer linger like a sweet smelling aroma. Soon, Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. will be upon us. A time to reflect. A time to give thanks for at least one thing that the Lord has done.

We have so much here to be thankful for.

Life. Liberty. The ability to pursue happiness. A government that—so far—allows us to gather and worship our Creator. Thank God for these United States. Thank God for our homes, our lives, our families, our children.

Thank God for each other.

It would seem during this time of harvest we could at least take the time to thank God for our food.

Let’s not just put in our time.

Let’s not just pass the time or just spend our time.

Let’s make the best of our time. Life is too short, as “they” say—but it’s true!

Let’s not waste our time.

Give thanks to God, from your heart.

Such is fall (or autumn) time.

Winter.

Short days and long nights. “Holiday” lights try to pierce the darkness, but their manmade light is weak and short-lived. In January, the lights come down but the darkness remains. Those precious people are hungry for The True Light—the Light that came into the world and now lives in our hearts in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This can be a time of hiding in our furnace-warmed caves, and never really reach out to the souls around us. Neighbors see and perhaps they wave, but they really don’t know us.

They don’t know me.

Such is winter time.

I’ve spent time praying, thinking about and writing this. You’ve spent time reading it. It’s time to repent and reach out to them—to reach out to the one. We need to work while it is still day, because the night is coming when no one can work in God’s harvest. We can make a difference.

I can make a difference.

It’s time.
