“What is the Living Library for? What is it all about?”
Gleefully, he answered, “I’m so happy you asked! The New Jerusalem Living Library contains a book for every soul who is living here today.”
“That’s amazing. Which living book is your favorite?”
“Oh, that’s a good question. There are so many. Let me think…” The Chief Librarian paused for a moment. He disappeared for a minute and returned with a tattered leather-bound book. “Ahhh, this is one I know you will enjoy. Just read the last chapter. There are comfortable chairs by the windows facing The Way.”
“Thank you so much.”
The Chief Librarian just grinned.
Fascinated, I sat down in one of the puffy chairs. It was a very cozy chair.
God really knows how to make a great Library, I thought.
The Light perfectly beamed from the window behind me over my shoulder. I opened the book and began to read.

Astonished by the entire city my first day here, I strolled down the gleaming golden Main Street simply in awe of what God created for us. Main Street was aptly named The Way, as it pointed toward the center of the city, where Jesus is located: He is the Light of the city. I was amazed to see shops of every kind I could ever imagine—candle shops, card stores, vegetable and fruit stands… fresh flowers on every corner. The shops were giving everything away free. No greedy shopkeepers here!
Then, a scripture flashed in my mind.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
I felt like dancing, and so I did. I spun around and shouted for a few moments; others who felt the same way joined me.
Curious now, I wanted to explore. I turned a corner and went down a side street. I smiled when I saw the name of this street: The Life. Straight ahead was a regal Roman-style structure, constructed of pure white marble. There were 24 wide steps leading up to 12 pillars. In the middle and behind the pillars were two tall doors made of emerald. Engraved along the fascia were the words NEVV JERVSALEM LIVING LIBRARY.

I snapped the book shut. “Hey, wait a second, this is—”
“Your story, yes.” The Chief Librarian finished my sentence. “See, the best way to explain the nature of the Living Library is to show you how it works: Your life is continually being recorded in your book. Turn the pages now to the last page.”
“Wow! That’s amazing.” Our entire conversation was being recorded on the last page, as we were speaking, and miraculously, new pages appeared at the back of the book. “This is so much better than computers ever were back on the old earth.”
“Computers were God-inspired tools that man used for good, and for evil. Ultimately they were just a preview of the power and majesty of what God can do with information.”
“Sir, may please I ask you a question?”
“Yes.”
I stood up and handed the book back to the Chief Librarian. “May I please have a tour of the Library?”
“Yes, I would be delighted to show you around. Let’s start at the front desk.”
“May I ask you a personal question?”
“Yes.”
“What’s your name?”
“Oh, yes, I’m sorry, please excuse my rudeness. My name is Noah Webster.”
“THE Noah Webster?”
“Yes, I wrote the dictionary, amongst many other things. Enough about me.” He led me over to the expansive New Jerusalem Living Library reception area.
I wondered, Why are we coming over here?
“I know you are wondering why we are starting over here. First, look up.”
I gazed upwardly at the majestic golden dome placed at the top of the structure.
“See the 24 small, round windows all around the dome? They represent the 24 elders who allowed themselves to be portals to The Light, which is Christ Jesus.”
“This is amazing. May I please see where all the living books are kept?”
“We’ll go there next.” Noah replied with a smile, “But, I have to warn you.”
“Oh…and why is that?”
Hundreds of angels are working overtime back there.
