Chasing away darkness swift as can be
Such a tiny flame but so productive
Just like one drop of Jesus’ blood for me
That one drop cleansed me completely
It took no more, no less
Whether it did what it was intended or not
I know that I don’t ever have to guess
God said He would send His Son
He would shed His blood for my sin
He also said that He cannot lie
If I believe I will be born again
I believe He gave Jesus as a gift to the world
He was crucified just like God had said
He did what was promised if I would believe
I know on that cross is where His blood was shed
The drop destined for me fell so free
It cleansed me from the blackness of sin
Lit my world with cascades of illumination
Just like a candle that burns within
Jesus is the reason for my well lit life
The red of his blood turned my black into white
I should be burning just like that candle
Shining like the sun to help end someone’s dark night
