Even though Rory was up and about, it seemed very early. Rory sensed that she needed shelter from something outside the house. She lived in tornado alley and had an odd sensation that something violent was about to happen. The air just smelled different to her. The house had an eerie desolate feeling.
Rory’s uneasiness closed in on her as she walked past the house’s many rooms: the bedrooms, family room, kitchen, and bathrooms. Her family’s many possessions were positioned in each of those cherished rooms. She adored her family along with all the stuff they owned.
Her precious family slept peacefully as Rory’s restlessness continued. She wasn’t quite sure what she needed to do next. Maybe because she was pregnant her feelings were exaggerated. Pregnancy does that! She decided to cuddle up on her favorite couch but still couldn’t find peace. She moved to the recliner but the awkward tilt position was uncomfortable to her very large belly and the pressing load she was carrying. She knew everyone would be upset with her if she waked up the household.
Still, she started moving around more quickly in the family room and knocked over items as she went. Maybe she was going into labor! She didn’t know why all of a sudden she had this urge to run and scream.
She rallied herself and moved to the sunroom where she could look outside. Again in her excitement and because of her increased size, she banged against anything that was in her path. She lived at the water’s edge and most days enjoyed looking at the serene riparian setting. Even though it was dark, she could see the water billowing against the shoreline with a mighty sound.
She heard someone stirring down the hall in one of the bedrooms. Even though Rory was pregnant, she knew her inner turmoil was the result of something bigger. She knew she needed to share these feelings with her family so together they all would be safe. She picked up the pace, raced to where she had just heard her family and made verbal outcries as she went.
Oh no! She had woken up the whole house with all her commotion. Now, everyone was turning on T.V’s. They were moving as quickly as she was. They grabbed her and headed for their largest bathroom.
Rory’s kittens arrived right on time. She had gotten so much attention since that stormy night just because she marched around the house and knocked things over. She had saved her family from destruction and purred contently. Her family gathered close to her to look at the little ones.
Life was good once again.
