A promise makes you feel so good,
You think you’re doing what you should.
So noble, unselfish, honest and true,
We give our word, and credit the Do.
We work so hard, the days so long,
So much to do, all goes wrong.
The Do comes due in the midst of it all,
We just can’t do it, the Do gets the stall.
The receiver of the promise is hurt to the core,
He relied on our word, which is no more.
Time stands still, words seem to fly,
And hidden tears fall with a cry.
Our broken vow has caused a fray
A friend is hurt, how shall I pray?
Lord send him help, to help this day,
Please let him know I meant to stay.
I feel so bad, he is my friend,
But I have duties I must attend.
The Lord replies with a tearful sigh,
“I’ve sent him help, I heard his cry.
“He is your friend and you let him down,
The price of the friendship came around.
I know what it’s like, when a promise comes due,
I gave my life for even you.”

I was a bit confused about who or what "Do" was, though. Because of the capitalization, I thought you were talking about God, but I wasn't sure.
The meter and rhyme scheme worked well. Great job.
