Topic: Confident (07/05/07)
Once upon a time, I prayed that the Lord would come into my dire situation and rescue me. I felt as if I were drowning in the angry seas of life without a refuge. Yet I heard that there was a Savior, one whom mastered the seas that would be more than willing to save me from my dilemma. So I cried, “Help! Help! Save me Lord! Please save me. I’m drowning!”
Immediately, I felt the presence and the confidence of the Master. But to my surprise, He didn’t lift me out of the waters. Nor did He calm the seas. Instead, He showed me swimming techniques that if mimicked, would transport me to dry land in poise and assurance.
So there we were, the Master and I, swimming across the raging oceans of life; and with every stroke, I felt stronger and more confident. So much so, that I soon gained momentum and crossed over to dry land in no time.
As the Master and I sat by the fire drying off, He looked into my eyes and said, “Well done!” I replied, “Master, why didn’t you carry me across the water or simply stop the storm?”
He lovingly said, “Because my grace is sufficient. You never would have realized that, nor gained the confidence of the Master had you not endured the storm.”
I Thank You Jesus for the Storm, Amen.

This is a good illustration of a very important truth. He does teach us to swim!
