Have you prayed today for our police,
For the brave men and women in blue?
Have you asked the Lord to give them strength
For the many things they have to do?
In emergency and in disaster,
Their courage is called to endure.
They daily put life on the line
To keep our homes safe and secure.
They’re not just defenders, enforcers of law,
With battles of crime to be won;
They’re somebody’s daughter and somebody’s son
And somebody’s much loved someone.
They’ve need of compassion and wisdom
In each difficult situation.
They’ve need of the public’s support and concern,
Along with our cooperation.
They don’t deserve insults and sarcastic names
For lives lived in deep dedication;
Instead we should give them our earnest respect
With kind words of true commendation.
So today when you see our protectors,
Stop and take time to offer a prayer
That God through His infinite mercy
Would keep them in His tender care.
